My Ethos

DO COOK, DO ARTS AND CRAFTS.

We are keen for the Experiences to be natural, manual, and interactive. This means we want you to cook and use the resources even though this means more cleaning for me and a higher cost base.

There is no TV (nowadays, mostly everyone uses their phone) but there is WIFI with a simple code! There are candles to help give your eyes a break, bath salts and a wide range of natural oils to use in the bath or the diffuser… and, of course, incense sticks. I welcome you to enjoy one of my simple pleasures – use the coffee machine or smoothie maker and walk down to the Summer House, which I built with my dad using reclaimed items. The Summer House becomes a Cocktail Bar in the evening. The garden has three seating areas as well as a sofa and four bar stools in the summer house. There is a kettle to make tea over the Fire Pit.

Back inside you can experience a mini-spa. There is a foot spa, a foot massager, a back massager and massage oils. This can be a true romantic get-away. Or an opportunity to have some alone time as the kids undertake an experience. The Cow Shed is an Arts & Crafts hub and kept me busy for hours ‒ it, and provides the chance to take away physical memories, be it a postcard, a face mask or a fancy dress film.

My life has been influenced by London’s finest nature. For example, a 30-minute walk to the Windmill where the kids can grind flour for a donation and buy a Womble like the ones in the Summer House. These small but memorable outings are captured in the Experience Hub. Some are simple including taking the “The Natural Spring” bottle and fill it up at the natural spring and come back to make a drink using a fresh mint plant.

In most places we have stayed we’ve had a car filled to the rafters. This can make travelling quite stressful. So, there are a number of items provided to make life easier.

The goal is to provide the option to drive back home not too jaded. Last year VC was used as a film set. I joined the team and was invited to film in Amsterdam. We stayed in the suburbs at EuroParcs. Waking up in nature re-energised me and washed away the big city energy as we escaped the noise and pollution. To be honest, I did also complain the next night when we got the wrong bus when I wanted to get to sleep!
